Mitomycin

Mitomycin belongs to a group of medicines also known as antineoplastics. It is used for the treatment of some kinds of cancer. Mitomycin intermeddles with the growth of cancer cells, which are ultimately destroyed. Since the growth of normal body cells might also be affected by mitomycin, other effects will also happen.

Some of these might be severe and must be reported to your doctor. Other effects, such as hair loss, might not be severe but might cause distress. Some effects might not happen for months or years after the medication is used.

Before you start the treatment with mitomycin, you and your doctor must talk about the good this medicine will do and the risks of using it. Mitomycin must be administered only by or under the immediate supervision of your doctor.
