Lapatinib

Lapatinib is used together with capecitabine to treat advanced or metastatic (cancer that has already spread) HER2-receptor-positive breast cancer in patients who have received other cancer treatments (for example, anthracycline, taxane, trastuzumab) that didn’t work well.

Lapatinib is also used in combination with letrozole to treat postmenopausal women with hormone-receptor-positive and HER2-receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer.

Lapatinib belongs to a group of medicines also called antineoplastics (cancer medicines). It intermeddles with the growth of cancer cells, which are ultimately destroyed. Since the growth of normal cells might also be affected by the medicine, other unwanted effects will also happen. Some of these might be severe and must be reported to your doctor.

This medication is only available under the prescription of your doctor.
